What can be done remotely
Almost anything that does not need a screwdriver:
- A slow or noisy computer tuned up: start-up programs, background clutter, disk space, updates and drivers
- A new PC or laptop set up the way you want it: accounts, programs, privacy, no adverts or trial software
- Windows made yours: notifications, default apps, and everything that annoys you switched off
- Programs installed and configured: Office and Microsoft 365, browsers, antivirus, work software
- Email and accounts recovered and set up: Outlook, Gmail, Microsoft and Apple
- A check-over after a scam call or a suspicious message, with any remote access tools left behind removed
- Printers and scanners the computer can no longer find
- Games and graphics settings tuned for smoother frames
- Backups set up, so the next problem is not a disaster
How a session works
You get in touch first, describe what is happening and agree the likely cost. At the agreed time you open a screen-sharing program from its official website and read out a one-time code. You see everything that happens on your screen and can end the session with one click at any moment. When it ends, the access ends with it: nothing permanent is left on the machine unless a business asks for it as part of a care plan.
How to tell this apart from a scam
Scammers call first, say they are from Microsoft, BT or your bank, and ask you to install remote access software. blagotech never calls out of the blue, never asks for bank details and never needs your passwords: you type them yourself. A session only happens after you have made contact, at a time you chose, and you can check the phone number against this site before you start.
Set up the way you want it
Every new machine arrives with things nobody asked for: adverts in the Start menu, trial antivirus, tracking switched on, a dozen programs starting with Windows. In a session they are removed or switched off, and what you actually use is installed and put where you will find it. If you would rather do it yourself, SimpleTool, the free Windows tool on this site, covers the basics.
When remote is not enough
Some faults need hands: a worn-out battery, a failing drive, a machine that will not start or connect at all. Around Staines-upon-Thames that becomes a visit or a drop-off, with the remote groundwork already done. Elsewhere in the UK you get a straight answer about what is wrong and what a local repair should reasonably cost.
The same person, in your language
No call centre and no ticket queue: the person you message is the person on your screen, and the one who still answers a week later. Sessions run in English, Russian or Ukrainian.
What it costs
Remote help is £40 an hour, and the first fifteen minutes are free. The likely time is agreed before the session, and if it is going to take longer, you hear that before any more time is spent. No fix, no fee: if it cannot be sorted remotely, you pay nothing for the attempt.
