£50 / hour

An IT person who comes out and sorts it

Most computer problems at home or in a small office are not repairs. They are a router in the wrong place, a printer that lost the network, an email account that locked itself, a machine that has quietly filled up. Those get fixed at your address, in front of you, with the cause explained in plain words.

Visits are arranged for the same week, often the same day, and charged from arrival at £50 an hour; the call-out is free in Staines and £15 beyond. If it can be done over a screen share instead, remote help is £40 an hour and the first fifteen minutes cost nothing, so a quick look never turns into a bill.

What a visit usually covers

Anything that plugs in or connects, roughly in the order it comes up:

  • Wi-Fi that drops or does not reach the back bedroom or the garden office
  • A new router, mesh system or broadband move set up properly
  • Printers and scanners that will not print, scan or stay on the network
  • Email and accounts: Outlook, Gmail, Microsoft 365, Google, recovered and set up on every device
  • A computer that has become slow, noisy or full
  • A check-over after a scam call, a suspicious message or a remote-access session
  • Smart TVs, doorbells, cameras and speakers that will not join the network
  • Learning your own machine, at your own pace, without jargon

Fixed before it is paid for

The likely cost is agreed before the visit from your description and confirmed once the cause is found. If something unexpected turns up, you hear about it before any more time is spent. No fix, no fee applies on a visit too: if the problem cannot be sorted, you pay the call-out only.

Remote first, when that is enough

A surprising amount can be settled over a screen share: a setting, a stuck update, an account that needs its password reset, a program that will not install. Fifteen minutes of that is free, and if it is clear the job needs hands on the machine, the visit is booked from there with the groundwork already done.

The same person every time

There is no call centre and no ticket queue. The person you message is the person who turns up, and who still answers a week later when you have a question about what was done. Russian and Ukrainian are spoken as well as English.
